Toyotafest 2014 Part I: Nostalgia.
Toyotafest, also known as Toyota Owners and Restorers Club (TORC), is held each year the first week of May at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The show contains over 300+ vehicles from clean, stock garage kept vehicles, vehicles being restored, and vehicles fully modified in exterior and performance. Despite the name, Toyotafest also includes Lexus and Scion models in the show. Toyotafest has always been my favorite show to go to. I started going around 2009 when my cousins used to own Toyotas and would show their cars at the show. I have spectated most of those years, but I now show my car off, though it isn’t show quality, as a family tradition. Though I felt this year felt smaller than past few years, it was still a good show, regardless of the hot weather.
Because of the quantity of photos I took at the show, I am dividing up the coverage into two parts: The nostalgic cars, which I have cut off after 1990, and then the modern cars. I also will have the cars posted in their sections as they were in the show.
I’ll start of with the TORC Showroom.
Because ToySport is one group, I chose to add all their cars into this post rather than putting the newer cars into Part II of this coverage.
The original Toyota sportscar — 2000GT
Camry / Soarer
All-Trac Camry. Not your ordinary grocery getter.
Toyota Z20 Soarer. I had parked next to this at last year’s show. I really wanted to ask the owner if I could sit in it, but chickened out haha.
My friend, Jesse’s, newly painted Celica.
… and his daily driven Celica.
I’ve always wanted to see this Corolla, because the stance is so crazy. Glad I got to see it at this show.
Takumi took a break from delivering tofu to make it out to the show as well.
NO STYLE’s 1UZ powered Corolla. I’ve heard you can find him cruising the canyons every now and then.
If I remember correctly, this TE72 is girl driven :)
I thought the hood on this was cool.
I thought the same thing about the exhaust.
Club Audacious’ Corona that took best of show this year.
Casey’s bosozoku/kaido racer styled Cressida. He brought out the takeyari pipes too. His car has been one of my inspirations for mine.
Lloyd’s drift mobile. He is trying to sell it right now if anyone is interested.
Evan of Club Audacious with his 2JZ powered Cressida.
My friend Adrian’s MX83. Sorry man, as I could only get a photo of the back of your car!
Land Cruiser / FJ Cruiser
That’s it for Part I. Lots of cars that I missed, but hopefully I can make it up to you in Part II.
